Buses are unable to operate effectively at present due to the driver needing to issue tickets and provide change. This translates into delays of many minutes at busy stops.

NewAustralia proposes that tickets never be sold on busses but must be purchased previously.

Bus Lanes

On multi-lane roads NewAustralia would reserve the left-hand lane at all intersections for buses at each intersection.

Timetabling

All bus routes should operate with a minimum 20-minute clock-face timetable. At peak times an additional bus may operate with each timetabled service.

Many bus routes are impossibly convoluted and seem to take in every possible destination. All routes need to be reviewed with the aim of providing a fast and reliable service.

Series hybrid busses show great promise and some are already in service. Using electrically driven wheels may make it much easier to build large articulated low-floor busses.
